Sent messages showing in my inbox!

Yikes, these methods didn't work for me. We're jumping ahead a few years here but I wanted to keep it under the same heading. I'm using 10.10.5 (to maintain compatibility with application software that has not yet been updated), Mail 8.2 (2104). I just switched 4 of my mail accounts from POP to IMAP (after archiving all my mbox files), and all of these accounts are now showing sent messages in the inbox (as well as in Sent). The accounts are gmail hosted accounts. I'm using Classic view in Mail, not using conversation view. View->Show related messages is not checked, and Preferences->Viewing->Include related messages is not checked. I'm still doing my own troubleshooting but haven't found the answer yet. I'll be sure to post here when resolved.

Thank you guys for helping me sort this out, I'm using macOS Sierra 10.12.5 & jumped from Lion where this problem didn't exist so I would never have worked it out myself.

Just a follow up..... doing it from the View menu only works temporarily. To make it permament, go to Preferences->Viewing and uncheck show related messages.

Thanks. Just installed Mountain Lion last night and this was driving me crazy. Changing Preferences->Viewing->Show related messages works like a charm. Thanks again.

I just upgraded to El Capitan and got my sent messages in my inbox.

This fixed it.
